Electroweak renormalization based on gauge-invariant vacuum expectation values of non-linear Higgs representations. Part I. Standard Model

The renormalization of vacuum expectation value parameters, such as $v$ in the Standard Model (SM), is an important ingredient electroweak renormalization, where this issue connected to treatment tadpoles. Tadpole counterterms can be generated two different ways Lagrangian: course parameter or alternatively via Higgs field redefinitions. former typically leads small corrections originating from tadpoles, but general suffers gauge dependences if MSbar conditions are used for mass parameters. latter free dependences, prone very large schemes, jeopardizing perturbative stability predictions. In paper we propose a new scheme tadpole dubbed Gauge-Invariant Vacuum Scheme (GIVS), which hybrid mentioned types, with benefits being independent and perturbatively stable. GIVS based on gauge-invariance property fields, corresponding parameters like $v$, non-linear representations multiplets. We demonstrate SM by discussing conversion between on-shell renormalized masses.
